Puritan's Pride Pycnogenol® 100 mg / 30 Capsules สกัดได้จากเปลือกต้นสนมาริไทม์ประเทศฝรั่งเศส (French maritime pine bark extract) มีสารที่มีคุณประโยชน์ต่อร่างกายนานาชนิด แต่ที่สำคัญที่สุดเห็นจะได้แก่ สารในกลุ่ม Oligomeric Proanthocyanidin Complexes (OPCs) และสารอื่นๆ ในกลุ่ม Bioflavanoids ซึ่งมีคุณสมบัติในการต้านอนุมูลอิสระที่ดี (Powerful antioxidant) สารไบโอฟลาโวนอยด์ (Bioflavonoids) หรือ ฟลาโวนอยด์ (flavonoids) ใน Puritan’s Pride Pycnogenol® คือสารที่สามารถละลายน้ำได้ เป็นกลุ่มสารชีวเคมีทุติยภูมิที่พืชผลิตขึ้นมาเอง (secondary plant substances) ที่อยู่ในรูปสารอินทรีย์จำพวกฟลาโวน (flavone) โดยสารไบโอฟลาโวนอยด์มีบทบาทสำคัญคือ เป็นรงควัตถุผลิตสี และเป็นสารต้านอนุมูลอิสระ ไบโอฟลาโวนอยด์จึงอาจเรียกชื่อได้อีกอย่างว่า ไวตามิน พี (vitamin P) โดย P ย่อมาจากคำว่า Permeability (หรือการซึมผ่าน) ซึ่งอาหารเสริมนี้จะช่วยส่งเสริมสุขภาพที่ดีแก่ร่างกาย
